Freedom Volunteers are Very Special People

Freedom Hospice VolunteerFreedom Volunteers are greatly-appreciated, integral members of our team.  Our Volunteers come from all walks of life: we have Volunteers that have retired from diverse industries; we have younger Volunteers, senior Volunteers and middle-aged Volunteers; we have Volunteers with and without prior volunteering experience.

Volunteering at Freedom doesn't require prior experience as a volunteer or prior hospice experience because we either train each Volunteer to help where needed, or we leverage the skill sets they desire to contribute.  While most Volunteers do their work in the field with patients, from time-to-time there are opportunities to help in our office with administrative or clerical duties.

In all cases though, our Volunteers are motivated by very personal reasons to serve the well-being of our patients and families.

Volunteers are selected with great Care

Freedom Volunteers must appreciate the sensitive nature of our caregiving environment and be prepared to cope with the unique needs of our patients and their families.  We seek individuals who are excellent at keeping their commitments, take pride in their superior work ethic and possess a demeanor that adds to our patient's quality of life at the most difficult of times.  The right people find great reward in the impact they have on the life of a new acquaintance, just by listening, holding their hand, painting fingernails, running a vacuum, or just being there as a hospice volunteer.

If we've just described you as a caregiver or if you have administrative or other skills that you'd like to volunteer, please read to the bottom of this page and either complete the Volunteer Interest Form linked below or give us a call (817) 265-0151 Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

For your safety and the safety of our patients and families, we will perform the following checks and gather all of the following information from each Freedom volunteer candidate before making an invitation to join our program:

  • An interview;
  • Tuberculosis screening results;
  • Comprehensive background check results;
  • Proof of Age (18 years old minimum).
